Workshops
- Saturday 13th September, 1-4pm: Dance and Holistic Movement Workshop. £12.
This workshop is a fun combination of Salsa, Dynamic Yoga and Pilates and will be taught by Sally Parkes and Liz Downes.
1-1.45pm: Salsa: A high energy, low impact class suitable for all levels. With a gradual build up and fantastic finale, we will have you dancing latin style ’till the end.
1.45-2.45pm: Dynamic Yoga: A flowing form of yoga that includes Sun Salutations, standing postures and seated poses. A challenging class that will increase the heart rate, burn calories and work the entire body.
3-4pm: Pilates and Relaxation: An all over body workout using exericse bands. This class will strengthen the abdominal and lower back area as well as increaseing flexibility.
A donation of £2 from each booking will be made to St Barnabas House.
This worksop will be held at East Worthing Commumity Centre, Pages Lane, East Worthing, BN11 2ND. Booking is essential as places are limited. Please email sally@planetyoga.net to book your place.
- Saturday 5th October, 9.30-11.45am: Yoga and Pilates Morning. £12.
This morning will combine elements of yoga, Pilates and core stability movements to thoroughly work the physical body. We will work with resistance bands and use our body weight to stretch and strengthen both superficial and deep core muscles. Prepare to work hard!!
- Saturday 5th December, 9.30-11.45am: Yoga and Pilates Morning. £12.
This morning will focus on the mechanics of certain yoga postures, to enable the participant to gain a deeper understanding of how each posture works. With this increased knowledge, the benefits of each posture will be increased due to increased understanding and body awareness.
The October and December workshops will be held at Sompting Community Centre, Loose Lane, Sompting. Booking is essential as places are limited. Please email sally@planetyoga.net to book your place.

Hatha Yoga
Generally the Hatha yoga classes begin with several Sun Salutations followed by standing and seated postures. This is a slower class which is well
suited to beginners or anyone with injuries. More advanced participants will also benefit as progressions in each pose are also offered.

Mother & Baby Yoga/Baby Massage

Mother and baby yoga combines gentle stretching and massaging movements for baby, and yoga exercises that you can do together leading to an enjoyable experience for both of you!
As with adult yoga, baby yoga has also been found to bring about contentment in babies and peaceful, deep sleep.
During our Mother and Baby yoga classes you will be guided through basic baby massage and baby yoga. You will learn age appropriate movements for your baby from birth to walking. You will be introduced to basic yoga postures that can help to strengthen and realign your body after the delivery of your child.

Yogic terms
Asanas: Postures/positions that can be dynamic or static.
Bandha: An internal muscular core contraction or lock, which aims to hold in prana or direct it elsewhere within the body.
Chakra: There are seven chakras along the vertical midline of the body. They are powerful areas that connect the mind and body.
Mantra: A chant used in meditation, an aid to focus the mind.
Mudra: Various hand positions which allow for prana to be channelled through the body more effectively.
Prana: Our life force and vital energy.
Pranayama: Various breathing techniques employed to increase our prana.
Samadi: The ultimate state of bliss which yoga helps us to connect with.
Vinyasa: A flow of asanas and pranayamas linked together to attain maximum benefit.
Yoga for Pregnancy & Relaxation
This is a gentle class with an emphasis on relaxation and breathing. Many women find however that with a regular practice of Hatha yoga postures
and breathing, discomfort during both pregnancy and birth can be eased and a calmer mind can be maintained.
